Inauguration of Shriners Clinic in Tijuana
On March 21, 2014 Shriners Hospitals for Children- Los Angeles celebrated the inauguration of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Ambulatory Clinic – Tijuana. The exemplary partnership with Hospital Infantil de las Californias (HIC) will provide health care access, education and outreach to underserved children from northern Mexico. HIC is an outpatient care facility for children (up to age 18) under the auspices of the Foundation for the Children of the Californias. This is a tri-national collaboration with Canada, the US and Mexico endeavoring to improve the health and nutrition for the children of the Tijuana region.
Establishing a presence in Tijuana allows SHCLA to treat children without burdening the families with back and forth travel across the border. SHCLA at HIC will become the Orthopedic and Plastic surgery arm of the HIC facility providing orthopedic, plastics, burn and cleft lip and palate reconstruction surgery.
SHCLA is committed to working in partnership with HIC and the community to ensure that children throughout the region have the opportunity to benefit from highly specialized pediatric care and live life to their fullest potential.
